Karen Fox

A graduate of The Cass, London, Karen has won awards from the British Jewellers Association and The Worshipful Company of Pewterers. She has been selected for several exhibitions, including ‘Rising Stars’ at The New Ashgate Gallery and The Silver Festival in Legnica, Poland.

My main influences are the Elizabethan era for its fine detailing, flamboyancy and dramatic scale and ideas from architecture, in particular the beauty of urban landscapes for their structure, geometry and repetition.  The ‘ruffle’ collection is crafted from ribbons of silver, finely textured and hand-forged. I make each piece by hand and due to the nature of the techniques used, they all have subtle differences and reflect the spirit of my research – alluding to the past but innovative and timeless. My bespoke collection of larger scale cuffs and neckpieces are made from stainless-steel mesh cloth that I have pleated and then sewn to create a densely layered, sculptural quality. A gold chain or bangle is often added for more glamour!
