Inspired by the works of Kelvin Okafor in 2008, Helen developed her charcoal portraiture with a focus on realism and intricate detail. Moving to Stroud in 2017 rekindled her love of art, this led her to being a contestant on Sky Portrait Artist of the Year in 2020. Inspired by the artists on the show and the eclectic and vibrant creative scene in Stroud Helen has begun painting in oils since August 2020.
In oils she has evolved from realism, to a more emotional figurative style with a touch of abstraction and surreal composition. Always finding beauty in the mundane and an ever growing obsession with water.
