Berndt, Angelika

Based in London, I explore how line and colour create connections that express the unseen. In this process I create very expressive and unique abstract artworks that emerge during a slow, contemplative process, which can take up to several months. I develop each art piece intuitively as an evolving composition in response to encounters and experiences, while at the same time responding to the quality of the materials. Some artworks may relate to each other yet within this specific process each artwork develops its own unique signature, making them ideal for collectors. In this fluid process, I mainly work with pastels, charcoal and conté and different qualities of art paper. This special practice of working was refined over 20 years and my work has been widely exhibited and is sought after by collectors in the UK, Germany and Brazil.
