Caouette, Renée

Renée has lived between the United States and France studying fine art and art history. She graduated from the American University of Paris and has her MFA from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Renée currently resides in London.

As a visual communicator, she feels the need to express the collective zeitgeist and expanding diaspora of the world. Grounded in realism and figurative narratives, Renée’s works are conceptual using symbolism and composition to illustrate her perspective.

Renée’s latest paintings delve into the familiar in unfamiliar places. Subjects are based on dreams, fantasies of dreams and thoughts on how we communicate with God. The pictures explore the subconscious while in the past, present and future; departing from realism and stepping into a surreal and abstract realm.

In June 2016 she was awarded a grant by The Ringholz Foundation and invited to the Bakehouse Art Complex Residency Program during Miami Art Basel. She was also a 2018 Stobart Foundation Grant recipient, accepted Château Orquevaux artist in residence and 2020 Artist’s Fellowship Inc NYC Award winner.

Renée has exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States, Asia and Europe. She regularly participates in charitable art auctions for women’s health and education. She believes the power of art can save the world.
