Morley, Lauren
A self-taught acrylic artist finding most inspiration from life on farms. I unexpectedly started my artistic journey while backpacking in Australia, 2017. Since then, my path has led me around the world, and free time outside the day job is filled with painting and commissions. Having largely worked in New Zealand agriculture, rural farming scenes and subjects (cows!) are a central theme in my work. Wherever in the world I end up though, I always find inspiration for my next painting.
Transporting a viewer to a moment, whether it is a familiar or wholly unfamiliar environment (e.g. being nose to nose with a cow), is what I aim to capture and share.
Working with just 5 acrylic colours for ease of packing up in my nomadic ways, I have a real passion for fine art. The aim is for my paintings to have a photo-realistic effect from afar, but up close, have the visible brushstrokes and texture reveal the messy process to create the final piece. The true depiction of reality!
