RECOGNITION

Under the name RECOGNITION, I explore how places are only material until meaning is attached through human experience, memory and identity. Creating maps, silhouettes and layered abstraction, I reduce locations to their essential forms, allowing familiar spaces to be recognised through personal association rather than instruction.
For Untitled Art Fair, my paintings and screenprints focus on London and Chelsea, drawing from the architecture, streets and mapped spaces that shape the identity of the city. Through simplified forms and layered compositions, the works consider how urban environments become emotionally and culturally significant through the lives and experiences connected to them.
