Wakefield-Gill, Jane

Attended Yeovil Art School and continued to paint alongside a long rewarding nursing career in the NHS. Jane has exhibited in London, Devon Derbyshire and Dorset and currently works from a shared studio in Dorset alongside six fellow artists. Her work has been influenced by time spent as a midwife in Ghana and continues to be shaped by life along the dramatic Jurassic Coast around Lyme Regis, where she lives with Chris and in Southern Spain where they spend their winters. The constantly changing reflective light on the sea provides endless inspiration and rejecting rigid “rules and conventions” she embraces an instinctive and experimental approach, often producing highly textured work. Jane paints mainly large-scale land and seascapes, while also exploring local culture producing expressive portraits with an unexpected twist! Jane undertakes commissions, enjoying the collaborative journey of developing deeply personal works in partnership with her clients.
